Session II Monday 10:30 - 12:00Occupancy Cost Overview Course Presenter(s): Jeff Cohen Course Track: OC-1 Course Level: B Course Cap: 0 This basic course introduces newer desktop auditors to the world of the CAM Reconciliation and the "Desktop Review." It is intended for those with less than 3 years of experience, but can provide valuable insight and savings tips to veteran auditors. Focus is on identifying key language pertinent to processing CAM & Insurance invoices efficiently, emphasizing cost savings through complete review and understanding of lease language and industry standards. Upon completion of this course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of a CAM Reconciliation.
Topics will include:
- Focus on the basic components of the review and reconciliation of the occupancy costs statement for CAM, Insurance and Real Estate Taxes
- Understanding of pro rata share and its impact on costs

The Art of Lease Abstracting Course Presenter(s): Rick Burke Course Track: LA-3 Course Level: I Course Cap: 0 This intermediate class teaches the attendee abstracting methods and inputting techniques used in the real estate industry today. The class utilizes an actual lease abstract, focusing on pertinent clauses and its relevancy. It discusses the breath of an abstract compared to the cost of maintaining it. It will also touch upon the issue of information consistency and how data should be setup, accessed, and utilized by the company. Lastly, we will look at the future of lease abstracting and what it means to you and your company. The following are key class objectives: - Understanding Abstracting Methods and Techniques

Lease Auditing to Coexist with Corporate Partners Course Presenter(s): David Rodgers Course Track: OC-6 Course Level: I Course Cap: 0 This intermediate level offering is an extension of last year’s course that primarily focused on the relationship lease audit has with real estate, specifically the dealmakers. This time we will help identify and understand how other corporate partners are impacted by lease audit activities and why it’s important to keep them informed and engaged. Repairs and Maintenance Course Presenter(s): Glenn Browne, Esq./ Robert Fratar, Esq. Course Track: LE-9 Course Level: I Course Cap: 0 This exciting intermediate course is intended for lease drafters and lease negotiators and will highlight specific repair issues that retailers face virtually every day, along with practical “hands-on” approaches and legal solutions, including lease language that should be considered when negotiating repair issues in lease negotiations. Participants are encouraged to bring their own repair issues and share them during the presentation. No tools or safety goggles are required!
Green Leasing Course Presenter(s): Gregg Ankenman, Esq. Course Track: LE-10 Course Level: I Course Cap: 0 More and more, retailers are trying to “go green” in their leasing and business practices. Whether it’s by choice or due to green construction or operating requirements imposed by a landlord or government agency, successfully going green requires careful attention to issues not contemplated in traditional leases as well as coordination of ancillary documents such as construction contracts, vendor agreements, estoppel certificates and SNDAs. This intermediate course will focus on how lawyers, paralegals and lease administrators for retail tenants can deal with the many opportunities and challenges of green leasing. Topics will include green building, LEED certification, government benefits such as grants and expedited permitting, utility and operating cost savings, and allocation of green benefits and burdens.
